• CHINA-ASEAN Trademark and Brand Forum organized in Nanning

  •   September 13, CHINA-ASEAN Trademark and Brand Forum was organized in Nanning of Guangxi. Liu Junchen, Secretary of China National Intellectual Property Administration Party Group and Vice Commissioner of the Administration was present at the forum and delivered a speech. Li Bin, Vice President of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region also addressed there.

      In the keynote speech, Liu summarized achievements and experiences accumulated in the years’ implementation of trademark and brand strategy, and indicated the significance for IP communication between China and ASEAN countries. For the 15 years’ strategic friendship relations, China and ASEAN has continued to expand areas, enrich contents, and innovate formats for their cooperation, and contributed actively for consolidate bilateral strategic friendship. He indicated that CNIPA would like to make further consensus with ASEAN countries, and conduct practical cooperation in larger scope, higher standard, deeper level, and broader areas, jointly build an open, transparent, equal and high-efficient IP protection environment, and create IP coperation new progress. He hoped to deepen the information communication and sharing cooperation mechanism, the enforcement protection and cooperation mechanism, and human resources cultivation cooperation mechanism, to jointly foster a more equal and reasonable international rule to promote CHINA-ASEAN regional economic cooperation and update, to accelerate regional harmonious development.

      This forum is topic as Trademark and Brand Strategy with Economic Development, one high level forum under the framework of the 15th CHINA-ASEAN EXPO framework. About 200 individuals including the ones from IP departments of China and ASEAN ten countries, experts, enterprises representatives, and the ones from ASEAN Secretariat and WIPO China Office discussed the mechanism and way for enhancing trademark registration and protection and

      shared each best practice in trademark and brand development.

      CNIPA has conducted a series of effective cooperation with ASEAN and ASEAN Countries in trademark and brand related IP areas in recent years. By the end of August, applicants from ASEAN have registered 45,600 trademarks which are still in force, and Chinese applicants designated 23,700 trademarks to ASEAN countries through Madrid system.
